Hey there —

I’m Victoria, but you can call me Tori.

Ever since I was a child, I’ve always loved books and design. This led me to Emerson College in Boston to earn my degree in their Writing, Literature, & Publishing program. Whoa, that’s a lot of words for one degree. Basically, I learned all about what’s important in writing and literature, like an English degree, but then I also learned about the process it takes to actually get the thing published and all the behind-the-scenes work. As I was finishing up my degree in Dec. 2014, I stumbled into a class about book design and fell in love. This will be important later.

After graduating, I accepted the position of Assistant Editor, Asian Studies at the international scholarly publisher Brill, USA. While there, I not only excelled at program management and oversaw a list of over 15 book series and 20 journals but also published on average 40 book titles and 60 journal issues annually. I thrived in this environment as I worked on a wide range of projects, each with their own unique needs, and worked interdepartmentally with Marketing and Production to bring the project success after publication.

My heart was always in the creative side, though, and I took on more and more projects outside my job description and within the design realm. With that driving me, I began at Tufts University’s Graphic Design Certificate program where I took classes to sharpen my skills and learn more about design — especially how it relates to publication design. Through this program, I have taken specialized Adobe Suite classes as well as classes like Typography and Publication Design, adding to the knowledge I gained during my undergraduate studies. I learned that I love to work collaboratively to create my designs and discovered the importance of teamwork and workshopping ideas.

As I completed my certificate, I began working at Forrester Research, Inc. as an Associate Graphic Designer. Within a year of working on short-form white papers that included infographics and data visualizations, I was quickly promoted to Graphic Designer and began liaising with the Editing department to create and update internal processes between the Editing and Designing halves of our production team. During my evenings, I have fed my creative soul by freelancing with Boston Art Review, Tufts University Art Galleries, and Alchemy RPG, a TTRPG publication company. I love book design, branding, and I still love editing after all this time. I’m here for you to bring your projects to completion.

So let’s get started!
